What do you do to get e-mail notification when someone leaves a comment in your blog?

In SETTINGS , email, enter your email in BlogSend address. (Dennis)

What can you do to prevent spamming and improper language or content in blog entries or comments, especially in a school environment?

You can choose to:

  • receive notification by email when new comments have been posted on your blog. Then you can delete them when necessary.
  • enable word verification for your comments. This will deter automated comment spamming systems.
  • enable comment moderation, which will let you approve or reject new comments before they appear on your blog. (Gladys and Dennis)
  • Restrict membership to named members of the class (Who can comment? setting - only members of this blog). (Dennis)

How do you add members/contributors to a class blog?

Blog administrators need to invite them by following these steps:

  1. Log into your blog from the dashboard
  2. Click on "Settings"
  3. Click on "Members"
  4. Click on the box that reads "Add team member(s)" at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Type in intended contributors email addresses. You can add comments to go with the standard message sent automatically.

(Gladys and Dennis)

Those invited get invitations via email:

You have been invited by (your name) to join a blog on Blogger.com, called (your blog title).

Blogger is an automated, collaborative weblog publishing tool.

NEXT STEPS:

1. Please follow the link below. If you do not follow this link, you will not be able to logon to the correct project.

2. If you are already a Blogger user, you can accept or decline the assignment to this project.

3. If you are not a Blogger, just enter a username and password to sign in.

IMPORTANT: Even if you are already a Blogger user, please follow the above link so we can properly apply your response to this invitation.

Thanks!

and you're notified when they accept them (provided your email address at Blogger profile is updated!).

By going back to step 3 at any time you can always see what invitations are pending, and eventually delete them.

NOTE 1: you'll see you're only allowed to invite 3 people at a time, but as soon as you send those, you're given the chance to invite 3 more, and 3 more...

NOTE 2: If two or more teachers share a blog, the one who started it can appoint the others as "administrators", so that each of them can take responsibility for inviting their own classes.

Edit function. Press EDIT button.(Dennis)

What HTML tags can you use in comments?

For bold text:

  • <b> your text </b> OR

    <strong> your text </strong>

For italicized text:

  • <i> your text</i> OR

    <em> your text </em>

These can be used in combination (e.g. <b><i>Gladys</i></b> will produce Gladys bold AND italicized).

Hyperlinks:

  • <a href="/yourURL"> your text</a> for a hyperlink to some external URL

e.g.:<a href="http://360.yahoo.com/gladysbaya">Gladys</a>

will show Gladys hyperlinked to Gladys's personal webpage.

How can we enable commentators' photos in their comments?

Can you rearrange the order of pages?

By changing dates of postings within Blogger, it is possible to change the order in which the pages are presented. Under the editing window, you can click on the links for Post and Comment options - that will open an option box that will let you change dates, time, etc. (Teri)
